Pasta is probably my favorite food to eat. There are so many different types of pasta, sauces, and favors. I mean there is butter sauce, tomato sauce, Alfredo sauce, meat sauce, and many more. Tomato sauce is the most basic type, but can be changed with different add ins. I made this sauce when I was extremely hungry one day and all I wanted was pasta… only pasta. So, I grabbed my sauce pan chopped up basic ingredients and hoped for the best. I added little by little until the sauce had the flavor I was looking for.
30 Minute Tomato Sauce
YIELD: 2 servings PREP TIME: 5 minutes
COOKING TIME: 20 minutes TOTAL TIME: 25 minutes
INGREDIENTS:
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 tomatoes, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- Parmesan cheese, to taste
DIRECTIONS:
If you plan on making this for pasta then start by boiling pasta water. To start the sauce put oil in a sauce pan with chopped onion. Once onion is translucent, add tomatoes. Allow to cook until tomatoes and onion have a soft texture. Next add sugar. Gradually add in salt, pepper, and cheese until the taste of the sauce is to you liking. Next you can use an immersion blender and make the sauce smooth or leave it chunky. Once pasta is done boiling drain, sprinkle cheese on the plain pasta, and place cooked pasta on a plate topped with sauce. Enjoy!
NOTES:
- I would not recommend mixing the sauce in the pasta, instead placing sauce on top.
- I kept my sauce chunky, because I was dying to eat it, but smoothing the sauce out would give it a true sauce texture.
- I used spaghetti pasta, but any pasta is fine.
